River Nile is well known to be the longest river in the world. Its source starts right from Jinja Uganda, some people may be wondering how the name Nile come about. It’s a famous Greek word simply meaning valley. The river starts from the Northeastern part of Africa. It flows from the surrounding areas close to the equator to the outrageous Safari desert and up to the eastern Mediterranean Sea. The river is about 6696km long and pours its water to over nine countries although it’s more centered to Uganda as well as Egypt. Countries include Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zair and Ethiopia.

This famous river and longest comprises of two major twigs, the white and blue Nile that connects in Khartoum to form the core Nile that is made up of Cataract Nile along with Egyptian Nile. The white Nile is the longest and splits into three parts;1)the lake plateau region,2)The sudd,3)The central Sudan region.

The Nile has contributed a lot to the modernization of countries like Uganda and Egypt. Its history has been the major source as why people have been Uganda. The Nile provides power to Ugandans and it’s the source of energy, the dam gives electricity to country to enable them carry out their daily activities. The banks of the Nile are too fertile to favor agriculture and still provide water to people.

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding in Uganda but at Jinja along the Nile, you have the opportunity to explore the River, Villages and the scenic countryside from the back of a horse.

You can go horseback riding for a few hours to all day outings and there are even two day horseback riding Safaris on the Nile.  Horseback riding can be combined with other activities that you might want to do at the Nile in Jinja.

Horseback Riding an escorted and guided activity, safe and secure. Horseback riding can be done at most any time, morning or afternoon.  Overnight Horseback Safaris include lodging and meals.

We can accommodate riding groups with mixed levels of experience by allowing the riding groups to temporarily separate at certain points on the safari allowing more competent riders to ride at a more advanced pace and those not so confident to stay within their comfort zone. For those experienced riders looking for a fast paced safari with plenty of cantering, we do have specific safaris for advanced riders only.

No need to worry, the majority of people that ride with us on our short safaris have minimal or no horse riding experience. Our horses are well trained, and understand what is required of them. We give you brief training before your safari on the basics of controlling your horse. Our safaris only go at a pace you feel comfortable.

Jinja source of the Nile excursion requires driving from Kampala via Mabira forest, road side markets, tea and sugar plantations. You may have lunch before taking you boat ride to the exact point of the source. There many boats strategically stationed at the source of the Nile to take clients to the point. This boat excursion takes like one hour and you will have an opportunity to bird on the source of the Nile. Due to traffic jam on Kampala-Jinja road, one is advised to start very early in the morning so that there is ample time to return to Kampala in time.
