Katonga is a recently created wildlife reserve, which is three hours from the capital of Kampala and is best explored through foot or canoe. The reserve supports around 40 mammal species and over 150 species of birds. The most popular animals that are spotted here are the waterbuck, reedbuck, colobus monkeys and river otter.
The unique thing to the Katonga Wildlife Reserve however is the Sitatunga, which is a semi aquatic antelope and is most accessible in this reserve.
