The marker was once on an island but rising lake levels over the past 5 years mean the island has all but vanished and the Equator sign now stands in water. I'd been told at the outset that it would be possible to wade across to the sign but I decided against it as the water was quite choppy on the day, which would have made it tricky both for me and the boat. The funny thing is the sign is apparently actually 20m south of…”
